Tree
By Hester Ingen Housz
For children and adults from 1,5 to 99

This subtle book shows without words what belongs together in nature.
Twelve large pages each show one photo of a different tree. Behind a dozen flaps the reader discovers around the tree the animals and the plants who are a part of that biotope. The backside of each flap gives the name of the bird, insect, or other animal, or the name of a specific plant.
By flipping through the book every child from eighteen months on (but especially every parent) can satisfy his or her curiosity and learn more about how the biotopes of the different trees form an intertwined unity with other plants and animals in nature.
Hester Ingen Housz (1971) works as a landscape ecologist. This book came to her mind when reading to her young daughter, who likes books with flaps. She looked for a book which shows nature as a whole and gives correct information and decided in the end to make one herself.
This is a perfect book to use in schools. Special suggestions for lessons will be available.

27 times Europe in children's stories
let's meet the children of Europe

The goal of this project is to introduce to young people of Europe their contemporaries in all the different countries of the European union by stories written by talented writers and illustrated by talented artists from all the different 27 EU countries. The stories tell in a fictitious way about the daily life of young people in every specific European country. The project starts on the website with a Dutch story and then will grow and be expanded  to the 27 countries.
Useful for schools, the stories and the website invite young people to participate, add their own stories and meet their contemporaries all over Europe.
The result can be books published by publishers all over Europe.
This project is financed and supported by  Rotary Holland.

We are looking for interested publishers to join this project.

The Alps, 2 in 1 book
an adventurous reference book and Alp guidebook
For children from 9 onwards the first children’s mountain guide book.

The Alps is the most impressive mountain range of Europe. The stories and legends however are not restricted to the artificial boundaries of the different states but by the mountains and valleys. Every valley has different traditions, stories and beautiful legends. Connected to all these mountains and peaks are also the heroic stories of the mountaineers, the people how discovered new routes and climbed the mountains. Some of them survived extreme dangers and were fortunate to be able to tell their stories in person. Some of them were not. In this Alps book you can read the most fascinating stories of these mountains, in legends and heroic adventures. More down to earth it tells you the story of the present; about tourism, the nature, and the preservation of the environment, and it takes a glance into the future. And…very important: young Alp travellers will be given sound advice on how to prepare themselves for a trip into the mountains.

For this trip into the mountains you need also the ‘little’ guide book which is part of this ‘2 in 1 book’. The ‘big’ book one can read safely at home, but the ‘little’ guide can be read walking in the mountains. It explains everything you see: geology, animals, (and how to look for them or trace them), vegetation, trees, or the absence of trees, flowers, climate, the stars, and everything you can imagine that is useful for you when you climb and walk in the mountains. The book is light but heavy of all the information you can find in there. You can put it in your pocket and make notes of your observations.
For the development of this book we use the help of Italian Mountain Guides.
